A School of the Art Institute of Chicago grad, I have worked as a creative since 1987 teaching art & design, owning and operating Potlatch Gallery (1995-2002), designing web graphics, and selling fine art (pastels and watercolors) and crafts (prayer baskets, wall hangings). My work is in public and private collections throughout the US and beyond.
Inspired by my mother's love of quilting, I began creating these fiber art coil baskets as a tribute to her love of color and fabric. In recent years, making them has become a form of meditation and embracing my spirituality. As I work on each box, a prayer emerges surrounding a single word such as calm, hope, or healing, whatever the Holy Spirit tells me the new basket owner will need... In obedience, I write the word on a stone and place it inside the finished prayer basket as a blessing for the new owner. I hope you find at least one that "speaks" to you for your blessing. I upload new work every week or so, so keep checking!!
All baskets are handcrafted using new and/or vintage fabrics that have been glued to heavy rope. SIZES DO VARY so be sure to read sizes and allow an extra 1"-2" inches for the knob on top. Knobs are knotted fiber, ceramic, leather, and/ or beads. DECORATIVE USE ONLY - Not recommended for food, drink, small children, or near open flames.
